Exclamation 7100i - Entering Unlock Code Instructions Needed - 06-28-2008, 08:43 AM

Hi,

I have 2 7100i's I need to unlock, however all the instructions tried so far do not work.

I saw this thread, but instructions didn't work for either device:

How to SIM Unlock the device:
1. Go to the "Tools" screen
2. Select "Settings"
2. Select the "SIM Card" option
3. Type MEPPD
4. It should then display a list "SIM, Network, Network Subset, etc..."
5. To select "Network" type MEPP Alt-2
6. It should then ask for the code
7. Enter the unlock code
The main issue is step 5, MEPP Alt-2 doesn't ask for the code, neither does MEP Alt-2 or MEPD Alt-2

Anyone had this problem?

Does anyone have a solution??

Thanks alot

How do I unlock my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ
specifically
Quote:
BlackBerry 6xxx 7xxx: ie 6230, 7100, 7290 etc. Unlock Code Instructions

1. Select Options menu on BB.

2. Select SIM CARD menu. To be able to see this you have to type this on the keypad on phone : (TEXT WILL NOT APPEAR ON THE SCREEN until you enter the unlock code)

3. Type 'MEPD' for all models, except 7100 in which case in case use 'MEPPD'.

4. Usually you should see "active" NET lock. In order to disable this lock, type 'MEP2' respectively ('MEPP2' if phone is 7100)

5. The BB will ask for a code. NOTE: You must use the "alt" or "shift" key to enable numbers so example would be: m-e-p-"alt key"-2 Now you should see the place to enter your net unlock code.(if not, you didn't type in mep2 or mepp2 properly.)

6. Here you must enter the "NET Unlock Code" that you have.

for the suretype model make sure you give it a second between typing MEP P ALT 2 so you dont use multitap

I didn't think you could unlock 7100i's. They are proprietary to run on Nextel's iDEN network.

Default Unknown Network - 08-20-2008, 11:39 PM

When I press "MEPPD" and it gives me the next 5 listing, they all have "unknown" beside them, is it a problem with the phone?

And I can't seem to make "MEPP2" work, any suggestions?
And on the main screen, it show "SIM Card Error"? Anybody knows why?

So you know, I use Telus as provider and this is a Nextel phone.

Tanks.

The 7000i is for Nextel's iDen network only. It's not locked - it's proprietary.

Pikoro, I have a Mexican Nextel sim card to, and I swapped it in the 7100i and never had the need to unlock the phone, but I do remember at first that it did not access the network, I did a factory settings restore (Options / Security Options / General Settings / Menu [press the track wheel] / Wipe Handheld) and it worked fine after that.

My biggest mistake was to update the OS from OS 4.1.0.112 to OS 4.1.0.560, now a big "SIM Card Error" appears on the screen but I will figure out how to get rid of this soon! (I hope)

UPDATE
the problem i had is fixed, I downgraded to my old OS (4.1.0.112) and its back on line
