Default They stole my filter! - 10-06-2005, 09:19 PM

T-Mobile's website, before the changeover, had a great filter utility. I could prevent any e-mail with particular words in the TEXT (such as Cialis, Viagra, mortgage, Rolex, etc.) from reaching my 7100t. Now this very useful utility has been disabled by T-Mobile. Bad move. Now I am receiving tons of spam that could easily be filtered if T-Mobile would reenable filtering based on words appearing in the TEXT of the message.

Surely T-Mobile recognizes that words that one would use to identify spam (such as Cialis, Viagra, mortgage, Rolex, etc.) do not appear in subject lines.

Anyone else ticked off about this?

give us a little more info here. not tmobile but what email service are you talking about? pop3, personal, corporate, etc...if you are forawrding this email from an existing
email account you should be able to filter it at that entry point. Make Sense?

Chris Mullins:

I am referring to [name]@tmo.blackberry.net. It had the best filters until the change. My e-mail accounts are POP3 Earthlink which I forward to [name]@tmo.blackberry.net. Earthlink filters are useless.

Yes, Gmail works fine with TMO, and would do a good job filtering the Earthlink mail that is forwarded on to the [email address] account. Another option is to POP the mail into Yahoo, which now pushes to TMO BBs. I haven't rec'd any spam on my Yahoo acct since linking it to my BB, but my understanding is that only inbox mail will be pushed.

ELNK, although not stated publically, has a long history of leaked email address lists. This dates back to the start of ELNK and MSPG individually. I've signed my little brother up with an account, which was never used and was a HIGHLY complicated username (complete with special chars and underscores). two months later, i checked his mail account just to see if it had any email - 28,000+ emails. thats ridiculous.

Can you not set Filters on your handheld under Messages -> Options? I'm not sure if the option is available without BES, though.

Hi Jibi. No can't do that. Not an option without BES. Guess I'll just live with more spam.

The filters I had set up previously went away (as they said it would) but I can still create filters, I didnt look to see if body was available, but I know to, from subject and a few others are available. I use them to keep the mailinglists I am on from flooding my handheld.. I was just setting these up yesterday. (10-6-05)

Bah, never mind, I just reread your post and you stated that body wasnt available... next time I will look before I leap..
