Thumbs up just switched from nokia E61 to BB 7130c - 02-28-2009, 12:42 PM

and I have to say nokia sucks when I compare with my first BB.
E61 is damn slow, unintuitive and its symbian OS is terrible. It is loaded with many things I'd never use like e.g. IR. Web browser drops off constantly and is barely usable. In BB I have all I need and it's very easy to use plus works fast. Not to mention E61 cost me over 3 times more...
Anyway I wish I switched to BB earlier.

I hear ya! I did something similar myself, but in my case it was from Treos > Blackberry > Nokias > Blackberrys.

The E61 was always plagued by a lot of lag in the OS. Just not very responsive. Later Nokias have gotten much snappier, but they'll never reach the level of responsiveness that the Blackberry enjoys. I had an E61i and could not get used to the keyboard or that general unresponsiveness.

If email is your priority, Blackberry has no equal. That's what changed for me. I was overseeing a home renovation and needed to be available all day (during working hours) to answer questions and make decisions on all the little issues that come up. Our renovation was a bit convoluted in that we added onto an old house and integrated the old structure into the new one. Fun stuff ------ not! But I had to be reachable all the time. At the same time I became active on the board of our local lake club, requiring another level of personal availability. Dealing with lake management companies, consulting the board for big $$ decisions on treatment issues, etc. And this was back in the early 1990's when email on a cell phone was nowhere near where it is today. When my Treo froze up and I didn't realize it I missed some urgent calls and emails. That was the last straw. If you can't count on your phone, what good is it? The next day I had a shiny new Blackberry 7230. Superb battery life, and it always just worked.

I've had flirtations with other devices over the years, and I suppose I'll always be up for trying the "next great thing", but Blackberry is my rock.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

My hope is that you will quickly explore some of the newer models.

exactly, all I need from the phone is quick email access, some basic documents viewer and quick an easy operation. No need for music, camera, pictures, ringtones or other sh&t so basic BB is the answer.

Akosnitzky, I don't see a reason to buy a newer model, why pay more if I have what I need and it works well???
