Default Roxio Needless Updating, Restarts, Corruption - 04-29-2009, 09:55 PM

I have a Pearl 7120 and both BB Device Manager and BB Desktop Manager installed on a PC running WinXP Pro. I am able to connect to phone fine. But shortly after that, it updates the software and tells me I need to restart asking if I want to do it now or later. If I ignore the message, it will allow me to download photos from the phone to the desktop. But if I say restart later, it shuts down and restarts anyway. Plus the photos I just downloaded were corrupted (which admittedly might be some other problem).

So.......why the continuous updating.....why ignore my request to restart later......why photos corrupted?

Is Roxio the only program that will allow me to manage media on the phone?

The Pearl is not a 7100 series device.

You're right. That should be 8120. I'll re-post elsewhere.

If you have a media card, you can enable Mass Storage Mode and connect it to your PC. It will then assign the device a new drive letter as a removable disk. From there, you can drag and drop files to your media card.

The core problem doesn't seem to be how to move files, but this endless updating.

One of your questions were if Roxio was the only way to manage media on your device. I was just posting an alternative way of doing so.

Personally, I never use Roxio. I always use the way I described above.

Ohhhh. I get it. I thought you meant doing it while in Roxio. That's a sweet solution! Thanks.
