Default Help! - 07-30-2009, 02:05 PM

Ok, so I just bought a used Blackberry 7100i and it charges fine on the computer, but won't turn on. It's not on an active plan, but still has a SIM card in there.

I'm also wondering if by switching the SIM cards from my phone to this (after I get it to turn on) will it work? The blackberry says 'nextel' on it, and I'm on verizon right now.

thanks

If you have a Verizon account, then the BlackBerry 7100i will be useless to you.
Sorry.

My plan ends in a few weeks anyways, so I can make the switch if I wanted to.

But do you know why it won't turn on?

Remove the battery and replace it, it will turn on, IF there are not other issues.

There are links for DM in the link I gave you. I would recommend 4.7 version.

For your OS, look at your carrier website for your OS. The link to that is IN the link I posted above, also.

This is the device manager i'm downloading:
Desktop Manager 4.7.0 B59 English - With Media Manager

And I still don't know what to do about handheld OS, I would do verizon, but they never carried the 7100i, and every time I choose the nextel option and then click on 'download' it asks for my personal contact info. Is there an alternative way to do this? Especially since this phone isn't activated yet

In what country are you located?

That desktop manager is good, i would chose the version without the Media Manager. You will have no need for the Media software on your 7100i.

You can't choose Verizon because it never carried the device. You must choose Nextel.

Oh, and your welcome.

You have to fill in the form in order to download the software.

Ok, so I got it working, and I just have a few more questions about it.

How do I put apps/games on it? Do I just use the desktop manager?

Also, what does 'turn wireless on/off' mean? Is that like wifi for a browser or something?

And, do I need to activate the phone to use any of these, or will switching the SIM card from my other phone make it so I can call/text?
