Exclamation OS Installation on 7100G - 08-26-2009, 04:27 AM

Hi,

i have one 7100G, when I 'm booting/stsarting that device get error message 507. I beleive this is due to non availability of OS.

I'm facing challenge in installing OS on that. I have installed Desktop manager and OS version on my desktop. now when I try to use application loader it says "Blakberry device manager" is not available. Although device manage is installed and detecting the attached device.

What could be the reason of this and how I can sort this and install OS.

Thanks...

What DM version are you using? Might want to try DM 4.2 since the 7100 is a pretty old device.

DigitalGeek, try these directions:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

DigitalGeek is spamming hidden links... do you see the red x that looks like an image is missing?

Edited to break the live link...
There are qimg tags, but they don't show up even unless you click to quote or edit the post.

Yeah, I was out on the road or I'd have checked it sooner. We need you to come back as a moderator, NJ. The certificate error must have been from the site in the hidden link. I see a red x in a little window like you see when an image is missing, but jsanders didn't see that. Do you see it? Or if you hover your mouse over the lower left porting of his post area, do you get an indication of a live link?

This is a relatively new spammer trick. Some have used emoticons as links, only they don't work usually and I can see the red x then also. If you hit the quote or edit buttons on their posts, you can see the code for the link.

Edit.. this is what I see... in screenshot.

No, other mods checked it but they did not see the hidden link or get the security certificate error. Must be my browser settings are different or my security apps blocking the link, I dunno.

I can see the box with the red x, but just as a matter of interest what does it do and what do I do if I see it.

The box with the red x indicates a missing image, like if there's a webpage with a link to an image and the image for some reason has been deleted from the server or is not where the link points to.

In this case, it's spammer trying to disguise his spam link by using the img tag in BBcode. If you see these, please report them to the moderators by using the report post feature, which is the box at the upper right corner of every post. That way we can delete them. Ordinarily I would have deleted this one right away, but I left it temporarily as an example of the spam.

You get it when you go where? Can you post the link to where you are referring to? Do you mean in the BlackBerryFAQ section? Or another post?

Yes, I see that too. I don't know why the FAQ is like that, but it seems a lot of images are missing there.

A lot of those images were lost from a server crash more than a year ago.

Ah, yes. I should have remembered that was the reason.
