Default A way to Paste number tones during Call? - 12-19-2005, 11:57 AM

Does anyone know of a way to paste number tones while on a call.
There are many times where I get a calendar event about a conf call to dial. I am able to select the number and automatically dial it, but when it comes time to put in the passcode, I am not able to dial that number. And unless I memorize it and type it in manually, I can't put it in.

I know if I know ahead of time, I can create a number containing all of the numbers with delays or waits. but this is an anoyance, especially when driving, and it would be great if I could select the passcode the same way I select the Phone number. And have it automatically dial it.

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you already know how to do it. I enter the phone number followed by a "w" then the passcode in my address book. For example "8881234567w4569" I select the number from my addrss book, it dials and then prompts me on the screen with the passcode and the option to enter it now by clicking. Once I get the anser on the conf. call I click and it enters the passcode. I use this technique for my vmail and dial in conf. calls and it works great.

You've glazed over the actual question here mc,

What he is looking for is a way of pasting a string of DTMF tones into the call after the initial dial sequence is complete. There are times when typing out a full string with waits or pauses may be inconvenient.

For example, I occaisionally use a long distance calling card. In my address book I have the 1-800 access number stored with a wait, and then my pin number. Dialing directly from my address book gets me to a dial tone at which point I have to enter the number I am trying to reach.

It would be much more convenient to simply paste in a DTMF string rather than dialing the number from memory. Yes, I could type out the whole number sequence before I dial ... But this is still much more cumbersome than simply pasting it in.

markhutchison,
Thanks for making my question clearer. Every other cell phone I have had allows you to do this - probably because they are ONLY cell phones. I don't think the guys at RIM thought about this. Maybe next in a future version.

thanks.
