Angry 7130e help w/ ringing while holstered and display options - 12-24-2005, 03:13 AM

Hey guys great forum here! So i just brought home my 7130e (verizon) and I LOVE it... I have a couple questions that i cant figure out...

1) I bought verizons magnet swivel holster/car charger combo for $40 (great quality products btw) but when my phone is holstered, It doesnt ring... calls go straight to voicemail. This doesnt work for me. If im walking about with the phone on my hip there is no indication that anyone is calling. I tried several test calls even after setting my normal profiles to "Tone" "High volume" for holstered and unholstered, but still cant make the phone ring while in the holster.

2) Pictures - how do i get .jpg's into the phone?

3) Display- is there any way to rearrange the icons in my display? my first icon is enterprise activation (which ill never use) and I would much rather make the first icon "Phone"... so is there any way to rearrange the menu list/icons?

Thanks!!

You can email images to your BB. When they arrive highlight the attachment, click the trackwheel and select full document. Then click the trackwheel and select Save.

You cannot upload images via USB.

Is it true that this will only work if your using BES? (whsbuss doesn't say if it's on a BES)

I didn't have the ability to read/save attachments until I got our BES running, I was thinking?

And I'm also getting calls that go straight to vm when in the holster, no vibe or ring???

Ya this is definately a problem with calls going right to Voicemail while holstered. Both my verizon and supplied holster do it since they have magnets in them.

Theres gotta be some feature im missing here to disable that....

so BB is to say that whenever your phone is in a carrying case on your hip you cannot receive calls? This is nuts.

I dont see anywhere in profiles or settings/options to disable the magnet sense feature........

So if youre not to holster your BB while you are out and about and want the darn thing to ring... what are you supposed to do? Keep it unholstered, lick it and slap it to your forehead and carry it there?

My phone vibrates twice (same as when I get an email message) then rings when it's in the holster. Outside of the holster, it rings immediately.

Something is not set up right.

Go to profiles, I use Loud, so choose Loud, then choose phone. Then there are two sections the top one is for when out of the holster, the bottom one (the one just below the line) is for when the phone is holstered. I set Holtstered to vibrate+tone, to repeat three times and then to use the Red Led flashing as a reminder, I also make sure that I have the ringtone set to high. The problem you are probably facing is tha the BB ringtones are not super loud and you may not be hearing them, if they play and you do not answer well obviously it send the message to voice mail.

Ok,
In profiles,

In both sections "out of holster" and "in holster" on the "Loud" profile I have edited both sections to be the same setting as follows:

Tune: Assembly Line
Volume: High
Number of beeps: 3
Repeat Notification LED Flashing

Ok so now I "should" be good to go right? The phone "should" audibly ring in/out of the holster..... but it doesnt!!

When it is holstered, I called my BB and sure enough.... rang once (BB didnt ring) and put me in voicemail. I took the phone out of the holster it rang 4x and went to Voicemail.......

so i guess holstering the BB is completely useless (for me) since Im in the IT industry and walk around all the time with my phone holstered and expect some notification of some sort that my stinkin phone is ringing...this is weak.

Great Tip on emailing myself the pics!! when I try to download/view my .JPG attachments (both sent as an attachment and included in email) i get an option to expand a folder containing a Table of contents and Full content ive just been mashing them to open and they flicker "cannot receive more info" "receiving more info". If I mash all of them enough i do get to save my attachment but it would be nice to know if there was a preferred method in which file to download first. the table of contents... the full content.. or the top level folder that contains both.

THANKS!!

Try vibrate + beep when holstered. Does it do both?

If not, maybe your unit isn't detecting it is in the holster.
