Default Just purchased a 7100i, but have a problem-- One fixed, now another has come up - 12-28-2005, 08:41 PM

I just received my Nextel 7100i blackberry, but I'm having a problem with my e-mail. When I try to open an attachment I get an error stating "More request cannot be competed. Service book not found." What does this mean? It happens with both pictures and files. thanks for the help.

Sounds like you should call 1-800-639-6111 and hit technicial services for blackberry. There are several options and it could take all day posting messages to figure it out. Call them.

Current- Verzion Storm
Retired BB's - Nextel 7520, Nextel 7100i, AT&T Pearl, Tmobile Pearl, AT&T Curve, Verizon Curve, iPhone in there too.

I'd say call BB tech support for your carrier as well. You may need to ahve your service book re-sent or maybe all of the service books didn't load as they should have. Also make sure that everything is provisioned correctly on your account. I know that happened to me and everything was fine after my account was provisioned properly.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)

You need to resend your service books. Go to Options, Advanced Options, Service Books and delete what you can. Then, log in to your Blackberry Web Client (BWC/BIS) and find the "resend service books" option-click that. Once you do that, pull the battery out of your blackberry without turning it off (also known as a hard reset) and then reinsert it. Try opening the attachment again. Keep in mind that a blackberry can take up to 48 hours to fully provision as well, so if you just added the data plan that could be the issue as well. Hope this helps.

Default One problem fixed, but another just popped up... - 12-28-2005, 11:48 PM

The hard reset did the trick, but now I'm having a different problem...the icon for my internet browser has disappeared, actually all three of them: the 2 nextel ones and the other one. I'm going to take it to a service center in the morning, but if anyone has some clues as how to fix it they would be greatly appreciated

Do a Master Reset followed by Register now (remember these instructions...between these two actions as well as the hard reset, you can fix almost any blackberry software related issue).

Master Reset: Options-->Security-->General-->click anything and select Master Reset from the pull down menu. The code is "00000".

Register Now: Options-->Advanced-->Host Routing Table-->Register Now. An email should show up after you do this confirming your registration.

After that, if you're still having problems try resending your service books again.

In most cases, I think you will find ASC's and even the Nextel stores aren't much help when it comes to blackberry. To be familiar enough with a bb to help diagnose and fix problems, it is literally mandatory that you have used one--which many Nextel employess have not done, many have never seen one in action. The best sources for fixing problems that are available to bb users are RIM's website, and sites like this one--even though sometimes it may take a little more time. Good luck!
