Default Having problem upgrading firmware on 7100t - 08-20-2006, 08:59 PM

I haven't used my 7100t in about a year. I switched to Cingular. I just broke my Cingular phone so now I am trying to unlock my TMobile 7100t. The site I'm using says I need to be running 4.0 or 4.1 firmware in order to do it.

It provides instructions on how to download the most recent manager from Blackberry and the most recent firmware from TMobile. I did both of these things. Then it says if you start the manager and plug in the phone it will prompt you to download the new firmware to the phone, here's where I run into the problem. It is not doing that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'd really like to get this phone unlocked this evening.

Thanks,
Lee

I believe one of the additional steps is to locate and delete VENDOR.XML from the C: drive of your PC.

Delete that file and restart Desktop Manager with the BB connected.

You must also execute the downloaded file containing the handheld OS (your thread is not clear about that).

I downloaded the thing from Blackberry, ran that. Everything seemed fine, old desktop manager that I remember. Then I went and got the download from Tmobile and installed that. Now I can't get the manager itself to run, I just get "Blackberry Manager Device Properties." I will try finding and deleting that file.

Launch C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\loader.exe to start AppLoader and the install of the handheld OS. You don't actually need Desktop Manager to install the handheld software.

Doug

Remember, please try searching first!

Need a screenshot? ... Like JavaLoader?
Try using BBscreen .....Use JL_Cmder!
or BBScreenShooter!
