I havent found anything on this. so i thought i would ask the berry experts. is there any way to put a ringtone with a contact or is it just a blanket ringtone for all contacts.

If you have Handheld OS v4.1, you can assign ringtones to specific callers.

it says wireless handheld(cdma) v4.10.318. is that what i need. if so how do i do the ringtones to a contact thing

Go into "edit" in the Address Book for the number you want to assign a ringtone to.

Click the wheel and select "Add Custom Phone Tune".
