Default Help! Lost My Phone In Rain 7105t - 12-24-2006, 10:47 AM

PLEASE HELP ME. THe battery has the red mark and the phone does too, i think that means water damage.....obviously. umm is there any chance it might still work if it dries off? It has been outside for a long time, 8hrs probably with drizzling rain. I blew it dry with a hairdryer, but when I shook it, i heard water moving inside. how do i get this case off asap? anyone with info please help me.

Leave the battery out! If you can get a T6 torx screwdriver and take it apart that is best. If you can't it will take several days to dry it out. If you don't rush to put the battery back in you might be able to save it. There are many threads on this subject. Just make sure you thoroughly dry it before putting the battery back in.

i took it apart and the actual screen looks like it has some water inside of it or something.. the rest of the screen looks off, but there is like a sliver of what looks like spilled ink or something just under it? did the lcd crack? it moves around over time if i tilt it to the side. is it water or a damaged lcd?

the phone works fine after i opened it up and dried it. however the lcd is cracked and only like 1/3 of it is working. is there a place where i can buy a cheap lcd screen for the 7105t and is the 7100 series screens all the same? thanks.

That's bad....Is it too much to assume you cracked it trying to take it apart? I can't believe that just the rain cracked it. I've seen the dislpays get wet inside but dry out after a week or so. That's a bummer. The lcd screens are available but pricey...around $50-$60 I think. Check out promobilitiy.com. I'm pretty sure they have that stuff. You might even check ebay for another 7105t to use for parts if you're sure it's just the display that's bad. It might be time for the Pearl you always wanted (cuz you know you want one!) Good luck with it.

Edit: And I believe the screens are different as the 7105 has the super bright mode for outside and the 7100 does not.

yeah...in all honesty, it might have cracked while other people, or myself, tried to take it apart. but there are like water spots seared into it or something. the screen would have had to go anyways. im happy that the phone works just fine as far as i can tell. bummer that its going to cost me pretty much the entirety of a used phone to just get the lcd screen though.

I disassembled a screen once to try and dry it out. I couldn't dry it. I thought it was a lost cause so I cannibalized an old BB for the screen. I swapped them and was back in business. A week later I looked at the screen that had the water marks on it and they were gone and the screen was as bright as ever. So they do dry out, they just take a while. Too bad yours broke.

Anyway, Gotta run....Santa needs help putting together Dora's Magical Castle and a Barbie Princess Carriage....Duty calls! Good Night and Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!
