Angry 7100t keeps re-downloading ALL mail - 04-22-2005, 05:48 PM

Is there any way to stop this? I figured it was a glitch when it re-downloaded 31 messages yesterday (the originals were still in my messages), but my bb is in the process of downloading all of them and then today's new messages again.

the accounts are both normal POP3 and a gmail account (via pop3)

This is a gmail issue;

Try using gmail forwarding instead of gmail POP -- several people say this solves the problem, and also improves the performance of gmail POP as well.

interesting, I'll check it out. I just find it odd that it seemed to drag in some other messages as well from one of my other POP3 accounts (completely unrelated server)

When you enable gmail forwarding to the BlackBerry to your @blackberry.net email address, make sure to remove gmail config from your BWC POP.

(sometimes it's best to use the filters instead of the normal forwarding option, so your spam filter can run first before forwarding)

Thanks,

Hey,
I recently had the same problem. Thanks for the info because it was REALLY annoying. Anyway, I set my gmail to forward the mail to my blackberry account instead of the POP option.
Now, I had a question. You guys are saying that it's good to set filters so that spam doesnt get sent to your blackberry. If I'm using the gmail default spam filter the messages that get put in my spam folder going to be forwarded as well or do I have to set up a filter so that they don't.
Thanks,

I ended up doing the "forward" thing instead of making it POP3 available. Seemed to fix the problem. Still not sure why some of my other mail got mixed in with it, but I haven't had a problem since

Is this the only fix?

Surely the google nerds know of this and would find a more workable solution....

This just happens sometimes. I suggest archiving your old messages in Google. Either that or delete them.
