Exclamation Newbie!!!! :) NEEDS HELP!!!1 - 07-23-2007, 07:38 PM

So im new to the community but not new to Forums; first and foremost, I want to thank you all in advance for the assistance that the experts here will give me lol.

So on to my story, I have had nextel for a substantial amount of time, gone through several phones and finnaly figured it is time to get the BB. I bought a used 7100i BB from ebay, the phone works like a champ and all that good stuff but the bluetooth icon is gone, along with the browser icon and other things.

Now I understand.... and correct me if im wrong.... that i can do a wipe and it will restore all of the settings like new. Im basically wanting to reset everything like it was new and make my adjustments as needed. In addition I have my sim from my old phone in the BB and work good, and just want to make sure that the sim phone book isnt wiped as well, bc I have a crap load of numbers.

Oh yea, and I cant seem to text, but that was a given. So hopefull the wipe or master reset will fix that.

Again Thanks for your help in advance.

Rudy

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan, purchased from your carrier? Without that, you will not have a browser and the email won't work.

Wipe--and restore--will refresh your phone as new. Restoring being key to that. Read here, and follow the instructions:

How do I upgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

and
How to transfer SIM contacts to the device - BlackBerryFAQ

It's also possible that the device has an IT policy on it preventing text useage or bluetooth. You might check that out as well.

Some how or another it would let me download the desktop software. But anyway, I was reading earlier today that a guy was able to text on his phone.... And I know this is an on going topic...... just by having a $10 data plan on from nextel. Does anyone know what Im talking about or am sounding pretty stupid right now?
