Default Latest OS: 7130g/c (GSM/GPRS/EDGE only) 4.2.1.164/4.2.1.101 - 08-08-2007, 01:22 AM

For anyone using a GSM 7130g/c, Proximus has released a new OS.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.164 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.1.164
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.2.1.101
* Software Platform: 2.3.0.80

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E38BBE070EC3F5

To install this update on ANY carrier's GSM 7130:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. Latest version can be downloaded Here
2. Download AND install to your PC the 4.2.1.101 OS package. Once downloaded double click on the file you downloaded to install to the PC.
3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in the BB, Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

*A backup and restore is part of the process so your data/apps will transfer over. After the OS loads it is not uncommon to see the spinning hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time on the device. The process can take 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data needs to be backed up and restored.

If you end up with a white screen with small icons with a circle and a line through it, simply plug back into the Desktop Manager, run Application Loader and reload the OS.

Good luck.

Will this work for the 7105t? I'm running the original OS on mine and would love something a bit more up to date. Plus my BB is giving me a lot of spinning hourglasses so I figure it may be time to wipe and re-install.

No, this only works on the 7130c/g. The 7100/5s can't run anything after 4.1.

Default editing blackberry.alx file not working? - 12-12-2007, 05:42 PM

so I edited the blackberry.alx file with the correct vedor ID, saved the changes, and yet I am still not getting the prompt to upgrade with desktop manager. I have also deleted the vendor.xml file. Any suggestions? Is there a way to force desktop manager to upgrade?

Cool upgrading 7130g handset to OS 4.2 - 12-15-2007, 03:34 PM

i'm trying to upgrade my blackberry from 4.1.0.323 (pre-installed when device was new) to 4.2.x version...

i am a mac user but i also have a windows machine - so i am using the windows machine to install the latest desktop manager however i have not been given the possibility of upgrading to the new OS when the manager app launches.

i followed the instructions on this post inc deleting the apploader file, when the manager runs i get a message saying "the mail system access module found at...is incompatible...please re-install the desktop tools"

so, should i attempt to re-install this module or is the 4.2.x OS not workable on the 7130?

with thanks...

Default Noob query - 05-30-2008, 12:25 AM

Good day. I am new here and a new user of BB 7130g. Just wanted to clarify some points before I attempt to upgrade my OS. My carrier is Globe Telecom in the Philippines, is it ok to upgrade with the latest software? If in case something goes wrong during the upgrade process, is there a way to revrt back to the old OS? Hoping for a favorable reply. Thank you in advance and more power!!!

Yes, you can use this on your 7130g. However, the only way to revert back is if you have a copy of the old OS. You'd have to find a download for it somewhere.
