My 7100i -
08-27-2007, 09:22 PM
I just got my first Blackberry about 3 weeks ago, I bought the Nextel 7100i. I know, people will tell me its outdated so on and so forth, however, I refuse to give up my beloved Nextel service. Seeing as though this was the newest available on Nextel, I went with it. Anyway, down to the point, I am constantly getting JVM error codes and Patriot Link errors. I am hoping that I can just call Nextel and get it exchanged, as I purchased it through their telesales. I am wondering if anyone thinks wiping it completely would help at all, anyway, any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance....

Welcome to the forums.
You could try wiping the OS and reloading it (follow these steps: How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder?) - BlackBerryFAQ), however, I have found that eventually the problem comes back and you'll have to have it replaced.... but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

How do you like the 8830 on sprint? I thought about getting it, but again, I love being on Nextel. Anyone have more advice?

I LOVE IT. I used Nextel for 3 years (company provided) and 'put up' with it not working at my house. Not the case with Sprint - works inside no problem. Plus I can tether it to my laptop
I didn't use the Direct Connect much, so wasn't a big deal to switch over (ok work pays for this one, too...so very much no brainer )

I really prefer Nextel because of the call clarity, and I really like having the direct connect, have a few friends that I use it with

I would attempt the wiping of the OS as juwaack68 suggested. At least that will rule out any OS issues.

Come on Dawg, you know you miss Nextel just like I do.
I had Nextel forever. Look at the sig and you'll see all the phones, one the phones was the BB750 from Nextel. Never had any problems with it, besides it getting outdated pretty quick. I went to Sprint and got the 8830 and love it.
