Question Is there any way to use the BB Calendar without BES? - 09-01-2007, 07:10 PM

I've had a BlackBerry 7130e for about a year and a half now and my company recently decided to change everyone over to Windows Mobile devices (NOT a good decision, but that's for a *different* kind of forum).

Anyway, they let me keep the BlackBerry and I connected it to my own service. Works beautifully except for one critical problem. Since I'm not using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, I basically have no use of the calendar.
- I can't open calendar appointments e-mailed to me
- I can't invite people to calendar appointments

I am NOT using the BlackBerry re-director, but rather forwarding my personal e-mail through Comcast automatically to the highly secretive BlackBerry account that I've been told to NEVER tell anyone about ;-D

I've searched and searched and there are supposedly after-market applications that allow you to have full functionality to the calendar, despite not being on a BES. But I have never been able to actually find an application that says it can do that.

Help!

-Desperate BlackBerry User in Minneapolis

P.S. Some of you might think this is funny - when my company switched everyone from BlackBerries to Treos with Windows Mobile, my boss said "Going from a crackberry to a "Windows Mobile Phone" [I edited what he actually called his Treo] is sort of like going from driving a Lexus to riding a bicycle with no tires."

You can use calender with the new BIS 2.3. Instead of forwarding your mail to the .blackberry.com address, setup your original email in BIS using the setup internet email icon or going to the verizon wireless BIS site.

However, the calendar app won't work quite as well as it did when you were on BES. Also, you'll need to sync to Outlook via usb cable.

Default Verizon BIS / Internet E-mail? - 09-01-2007, 07:16 PM

Do you know how to find the website for the Verizon BIS site? I can't seem to find it --
