Default Contacts Synchronization Question - 12-04-2007, 04:12 PM

I have a Blackberry 7250 that I purchased from my former employer. While I was employed with them, I could sychronize Contacts through my work pc via the company's exchange server.

Now that I am not employed with the company, I cannot sychronize my Contacts through the company's exchange server (obviously). I also purchased my pc that I used at my former employer.

Does anyone know of a way I can synchronize my contacts directly with my pc??

Thanks.

You can sync contact with Outlook on your PC using the
BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

How exactly do I sych with Outlook on my PC using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager? When I click on my Desktop Manager, I get a box that pops up titled "Redirector Settings," that says "Connecting to messaging system . . . " After trying to connect, I get another box titled "Email Server Logon," that says "The message store could not be opened. Click OK to verify your mail profile settings."

When I click OK, I get another box titled "Choose Profile," with an option to choose a Profile Name of "Default." (The only other choice is MS Exchange Settings). When I click OK, the "Redirector Settings" box comes up again and tries to connect. After a little bit, the "Disconnected - Blackberry Desktop Manager" box appears, with the usual options. When I select "Intellisync," it either didn't sync up, or gave me some other error message, like that it was trying to find the exchange server.

I tried to do it right now so I could say what the exact message was, but I seem to have misplaced my USB cord, so now I will have to find that or replace it to be able to even try again. But any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Ooh, sorry. I don't use the redirector. I just go into Desktop Manager and click on Synchonize. It presents the options (e.g. contacts, calendar, notes, tasks, other applications) and I select which ones to sync. This syncs between my PC's Outlook and my BB. Then I use BIS for email -- again, no redirector. Hopefully someone else can help.

Well, now I've done that, and even changed the settings so that my BB automatically synchs with my PC. The problem is, it runs through the operation and appears that it is synching, but then no new contacts get added to my BB. For example, I've had 812 Contacts in my BB, but I've added many new ones since I left my last employer. However, unfortunately, the BB never adds anything new when it synchs.

Any ideas on how to fix this or what else to do??

Thanks for your help so far . . .

Have you tried updating your Desktop Manager to the latest version?

Or, how do I download the latest version of DM?

Check by opening Desktop Manager / Help / About. It will tell you what version your running

Goto BB. com and d/l latest version 4.3 ...
Backup your device first.
You can do an inplace upgrade and do not have to un-install the older version. The 4.3 version addresses issues when sync'ing outlook.

Good luck...
