Default How to update OS and get gprs working? - 06-19-2008, 09:03 AM

I live in Finland (Europe) and I bought from eBay my unlocked BB 7290. The gprs internet connection doesn't work even if I set the TCP settings right. I want to update to the latest OS, but I have no idea how to do it - I have found just OS' for different operators. BB works well as a phone. Version is 4.0.0.198. Please give me simple instruction how to do this. I'm thanking you in advance.

edit: Ok, I managed to update the OS but what should I do to get the gprs work?

do you have a blackberry data plan??
do you get "gprs" or "edge" in the main screen?? or you get "EDGE" or "GPRS"?
Within the main screen, do you get "data connection refused"?

Regards

No, I haven't. And yes, there reads "data connection refused". Any way to get the connection?

Arghh. Weird; there are so many other devices being hacked but there is no hack for BB or any modified firmware. Operators are making huge monopoly with BB.

You should be able to get TCP data if you have the proper apn entered. You'll need a 3rd party browser like Opera Mini, though. Some apps won't use TCP data, though. You'll never see an OEM browser until you get a Blackberry Data plan.
