Unhappy Need software help!!! - 07-22-2008, 08:29 PM

Hi! I just recieved a Blackberry 7290. I do not have internet access through my wireless provider and I was wondering how I could possibly load ringtones and pictures on from my computer. I downloaded the "Blackberry desktop manager" but when I go to "media Manager" it says that there is not device connected. My computer tells me its hooked up. Is the Blackberry 7290 not compatible with the media manager? If not is there any other way of getting pictures or ringtones on to my phone?? Thanks!!

No, the 7290 is not compatible with media manager. Media manager requires OS 4.2 and it's not available for the 7290.

No, it just means you cannot use Media Manager.
You can still use the other functions of BlackBerry Desktop Manager to sync your calendar, contacts, memo pad and tasks. (But that's about all you can do.)

i wanted to use my 7290 as a pda; typing in content while on the move, saving it as a message or email, then connecting it to my pc later. i have been to the blackberry site, but they have major problems performing simple tasks, like providing users with the appropriate software. I need the 7290 software, because i cannot get the other device manager i downloaded to work. If i manage to get this software, is it possible to download my fileson the my computer?

You can't do that with a BlackBerry. They simply don't work that way.

You cannot port messages back and forth from your device to your PC. With or without Desktop Manager.... You can however move media; pics, ringtones, vids....

The user has a 7290. No media capabilities with desktop manager because the device will not support OS 4.2 or higher.

You can't do anything related to messaging or email. Desktop Manager does not sync email messages at all.

With your 7290... no it's not possible.

Fair enough.. not that familiar with that model. I was making the assumption that this device at least supported the use of an external media card (which led to more assumptions....)
