I have a 7250 with Verizon. I've read that EV-DO hardware is on the 7250 but a software upgraded is needed to make use of it.

I went to broadbandreports.com/mspeed and ran the 600K test. My results are anywhere from 730 to 807 kbits/sec. The way I undersatand is that these numbers are great for 1X speeds or am I understanding it wrong?

60k - 80k with burst to 144k is national access. Mine came up at 140kbit/sec on 600k test, 4 bars signal strength.

Thanks for the reply. I'm averaging 700-800 kbit/sec when I do the test. So I guess I'm doing good unless I'm getting a false reading somehow.

Is there a thread that discusses the software upgrade with possible details of when Verizon may put the upgrade out to their subscribers?

Is there some type of conflict with Verizon sanctifying the upgrade and the possibility of us users being able to use our Blackberries as high speed modem hookups to our laptops with a monthly unlimited data package?

Also what does EV-DO mean?

I'm not really sure if this test is any good. I chose the 600k test on my 7250 with four bars of signal. It loads the page and tells me that my browser will redirect me to the next page. I sat there for about 10 seconds. And then clicked on where it said "Click Now!" It said my speed was 180k. The I tried it again but clicked on the "Click Now!" moments after the page loaded and got 908k, then 964k, then 932k. Now, as I'm typing this, I did the 600k test and will post was I get after I click the "Click Now!" button. I get 37k. Yeah, so is this a reflex test? I mean, it seems to only matter whem I click the button as to what my speed is. Lame.

1) It's all speculation right now; Verizon takes a Long Time to certify anything.
2) No one - to the best of my knowledge - has gotten then Verizon BlackBerrys to work as modems, at any speeds...

there is no official word about the software update until it is released.. similar to most corporations out there. and simply put EVDO is wireless broadband on a CDMA network (vzw, sprint, alltell, leap wireless etc use this technology for their networks)
