Default Maybe I'm Just Stupid - Bb 7230 issues - 10-02-2005, 05:35 PM

OK, I must be really stupid or something, but I can't figure out how to unlock my Bb 7230 4.0. I went to options, then I went to SIM card, then I hit ALT and MPED (I think it was) and I got a list that includes
ID: (series of numbers)
Personalization
SIM Disabled
Network Inactive
Network Subnet Disabled
Service Provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled
Phone Number: (My Phone Number).

This phone was unlocked when I bought it, so I do have an unlock code, but sadly when I updated from 3.7 to 4.0, it became locked and now I can't use my sim card (it just won't connect to the mobile network).

I have the code here, but I can't figure out how to enter it... in the options when I click the scroll wheel it just says

Edit SIM Phone Number
Change PIN2 Code
Enable Secuirty
Close

This unlock code is 16 digits long, and when I try entering it on any of those it just doesn't work.

The SIM card is in right now!!

Ok, here is a newbie question. What is a locked phone vs an unlocked one? I've seen the term used alot. How does one phone become locked? Is it locked to a particular network that prevents usage on that network? I've seen BB on ebay thatsays unlocked....

While we are at it, when it come to BBs what does it mean to send ones books?

OK, let me try to make this a bit clearer, this is my dillema.

I bought this phone off of ebay, it's a tmobile phone and it's in really good condition. Since then I have popped my cell phone sim card into the back and it's worked out great for me, other then some general lost signals once in a while, no big deal. But today, this morning, I decided to upgrade to v. 4.0 to see what that is about. Since then, I have received one call, lost signal and have not been able to get it back in any way.

I have been told to wipe the blackberry, so I have done that and now it is moving slower then ever. Lag when scrolling, 12 minutes so far to boot and still nothing. I'm just really at a loss of what I am supposed to do. This phone was unlocked and worked when I bought it, what is wrong with 4.0?! I can't seem to find out how to downgrade succesfully either!

Please help!
