Default Device Error 411 on 7290 - 02-27-2009, 01:05 AM

Has anyone figured out the Device Error 411 on a 7290? I currently have a refurbished 7290 form ProMobility. They have outstanding customer service. I bought the device and it worked fine for a few days. Then I started to get "Searching for Network" messages in areas where I knew I had a strong signal. Then it started crashing. Always in the middle of writing an email. It displayed a Device Error 411 and told me to reset. This error came and went on a regular basis.

I wrote Promobility about it and they told me to ship it back for repair. I found a replacement on Amazon. A new unit. I couldn't do without a device for several weeks while it was being repaired. It is the identical device 7290. This one was new out of the box from Amazon with a Cingular logo. Unlocked. I plugged in the SIM card and it worked fine. Then I upgraded to th latest firmware and added BB Messenger. It's still working fine.

Any idea what's causing the Device Error 411 on 7290? I'm baffled. Maybe it was the third party apps? I had the IM suite offered from T-Mobile. The one with ICQ, MSN, Google Talk and Yahoo messenger. And I added BB Video Poker. Otherwise the two devices were the same.

I am on T-Mobile. Anyone out there figure this out? The only advice I have read on any of the forums is to reinstall the firmware and upgrade it. That didn't do anything for me. Do I have any alternative except to use the original 7290 for parts?

Promobility said they found the error and it was in the software. They had to "re-flash" it. They are sending it back. Is there software on the device that is like the bios of a PC? I thought the only accessible software was the firmware.
