Unhappy blocked bluetooth - 07-04-2009, 01:58 PM

Hi I recently got a BB 7290 on ebay, phone is great but for two things

1. When i try to enable bluetooth get message "bluetooth disabled by your systems administrator"

and

2. Can not seem to get a Data connection refused to vanish (what does it mean)

please wanted a phone I could check internet with when in hospital, so far this isn't it.

Do you have it set up on BES through your place of employment? If not, it may be that the pervious owner did.

Here are some steps for removing a prior IT Policy. Follow these steps, or you can contact the seller to have this removed:

Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

Thank You that worked now the bluetooth is working nicely.

Have not managed to set up a data plan yet but plan to get that sorted with Vodafone later today, plan to go to shop as online they give you a adaptor and not sure if I need that. Have downloaded destop manager from blackberry, and device software from vodafone so only need to sort out the data plan and everything should be working nicely.

once i have a data plan in place will a browser icon appear on the bb as a moment there isn't one.

By getting a BlackBerry Data Plan or by turning off data services on the BB.
Since the 7290 is very old, that may not be an option.
