Default How do I stop 7290 from asking for password (which I have) - 09-28-2009, 10:12 PM

Hi

I would like to kill off password protection on my 7290,
every 10 minutes if do not use it, I have to re-enter my password,

There is nothing important on it that would need to be protected !

I tried going thru general settings-password but I cannot click on it , it just says enabled

anyway thanks for your advise

VW

When you go into Security Options -> General Settings, can you change the 'Enabled' to 'Disabled', or is there a small padlock symbol next to it?

Hi
enabled with no padlock,
which when I click on the side wheel does not give me option of changing ,
I get a screen which has:
change password
wipe handhelp
verify security software
save
close

If you cannot change it to 'Disabled', scroll down the General Settings screen to the 'Services' section. What do you see listed there?

Wirelessly posted (8320 Titanium)

When you have the cursor over the one you want to change, try using the spacebar to change it to disabled, or try the enter key.

Click HERE to access older OS versions for 8700 and 8320 devices that I have saved

Is the BB still connected to BES? If so, not nice to mess with password protection scheme put there by your company.

If not, then there could be an IT Policy on the device from a previous BES instance that you need to remove. Check the FAQ for instructions.

Hi.....no its not connected to BES,

its one I bought at the computer swap meet for $3 !

yeah it might have an IT policy on it , when I got it, it was a "507" so I assumed they had deleted everything,

I will see if I can figure out if it has an old IT policy on it

thanks.....VW

Wiping the device (even to a 507 error) does not remove the IT policy. It sounds like there is one on your device. Follow procedure 2 to remove the policy.
