Default New 7290 - Trial with Cingular, I have Verizon now - 01-15-2005, 08:25 PM

Well, I have been with VZW for 4 years not and I love the coverage, but I hate the hardware selection. I have decided to try out the Cingular 7290 since I have 30 days to decide and see if the coverage in NJ is going to be a problem.
So far I love the 7290 and I hope the coverage is not a problem, I do not want to have to get the 7750 due to coverage issues. I live on my cell and I cannot have spotty coverage.
This forum was very helpful for me so far and I hope my switch works out.
Although tonight I seem to be getting a constant "data connection refused" and staying in "gprs".

Pop out the battery and see if it gies back to GPRS.

I was in the same boat - a loyal 5 year Verizon customer simply because I loved the hardware. I heard good things about the "NEW" Cingular and decided to give it a try. I am a traveling salesperson and was very concerned about the coverage. Well, it is going on 3 weeks now with the 7290 / Cingluar and I'm glad I made the move!!!! I honestly can't tell the difference between the Cingular and VZW service. I am in NY (Westchester) and travel NY, CT, NJ PA. Can you hear me now??

Turns out there was a Data outage in South Jersey and Eastern PA, it switched back to GPRS this morning. So far the coverage is not an issue. The big test will be tomorrow morning when I commute to work for the first time, if everything is ok, goodbye VZW.
The stupid thing is Cingular will not let me switch my number to my VZW number after I opened the account, so I have to cancel the service within 30 days and open a new account with my ported number.
