Default 7290 Charging Issue? - 01-17-2005, 10:40 PM

I think I put this in the wrong forum by mistake...reposting here...

"I just got a 7290 with Cingular a few days ago and am new to having a Blackberry. I plugged mine in and let it charge up for about 18 hours before using it (just the way my schedule worked out) and the red light still was flashing. I checked in the options -> status page and it said the battery was 100%...is this normal or does something need to be changed? I've read other posts on here saying it should change over to green once it is done...thanks."

I believe when it's plugged in the red light flashes even when fully charged. But someone can correct me if I'm wrong...

The red LED blinking usually is a profile setting, not something related to the battery or the charging status. The LED usually blinks when you first turn on the device, but other than that, it only is activated when your profile requests it... such as for new mail notification, or a calendar reminder.

In my case, LED is indeed related to whether device is plugged in. It blinks when the device is off but plugged in. But if I unplug it, LED stops blinking.

LED blinks on charge for me ever since I upgraded the firmware to 4.0 (could be that I just never noticed it before though)... seems to always blink red regardless of the battery's charge.

What OS are you running? The HK 4.0 version?
I am charging a brand new one (straight out of the box from Cingular) and my 7290 running 4.0 from HK, and neither are blinking...
Aren't anomalies wonderful!!

i should'a been more specific... I'm running 6280's, 7280's, 7780's ... with ATT 4.0 and so far they all seem to blink when charging... now i'm starting to wonder why... I'll have to take a look at that later.

Ah, that could be the difference. "trk10k" started the thread talking about 7290's, so maybe it is just the 7290's that don't blink when charging.

actually he was saying that it does blink when charging... but the blinking doesn't stop when the battery is full. He was asking if the blinking should stop when the battery is full.

I'm saying that I've never seen a BB stop blinking when the battery is full... but I don't have a 7290 to test.

or am i totally misreading his question?

Yes, the forum was down. Sounds like machine trouble:
