Default Unread E-mail indicator will not go away on a 7280 - 01-21-2005, 07:17 AM

We have a few salespeople who use BB 7280 devices. I am being told by one of them that the unread e-mail message indicator (the little envelope symbol) is on and will not go away even thought they do not have any unread messages. Sincethe user and the device are currently in a different location then I am, I have no way to verify or see what is happening. Has anyone evr experienced this problem? Is there a way to force it to go off?[/b]

Does he/she have an unread message in the 'Saved Messages' folder. That would cause this behavior.

According to the user there are no messages in that folder.

1. To rule out a wetware error, have them press T to go to the top of their email list, click the wheel, and select Mark Prior Opened.

2. If that doesn't work, they could try a reboot. To reboot the bb, press Moon key-Cap-Del at the same time.

Do you know what version of firmware they have installed?

There's a few things I can think of that it might be...

1) Have them open messages and type U ... this will either take them to the next unread message or say 'no unread message in the list' ... just to double-check.

2) (unlikely) message not shown in the message list- Have them open messages, click the trackwheel and select 'View Folder' ... there's a few folders that might not show by default (browser, wap push messages)

3) I noticed with 3.7 on 6280's and 7280's there seems to be a glitch that causes the LED to blink for no reason (or an unknown reason anyway)... if that's the case then it will keep blinking even if you change the profiles or hard-reset the device... only fix I found is firmware reload :(

The reboot procedure descibed seems to have solved the problem.
