Default 7290 creaky buttons - 02-04-2005, 06:43 AM

Apart from the usual "click", certain buttons on my 7290 tend to creak, especially the corner ones (Alt, Enter, Q, P). Kinda irritating. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? The 77xx series seems to have perfect thumb-boards.

I'm not really the adventurous kind, but would taking apart the device help? I think maybe something fell loose inside.

My 7290 does the same thing. It's not too bothersome though.

I guess it's either a design flaw or batch problem then. My telco was nice enough to let me handle a few sets to choose one I really "liked". Hopefully it gets resolved. Quite surprisingly I hear no such complaints for its predecessor, even though the exteriors seem identical.

My buttons squeak... though all of the mobile phones that i've had-have creaky buttons. Whats surprising for me to hear was that this might be a flaw. Not a bad one in my opinion.

I still think its a cool phone, even though its my first BB.

Default Same problem - 02-04-2005, 03:34 PM

I have the same problem on my 6230. I thought it was a problem at first, but haven't had any trouble with the keys not responding. Maybe it needs some breaking in...

I have not noticed that. Is it just the sound of the plastic rubbing together or does it sound like actual stress?

More like plastic rubbing together. I thought at first something may have gotten inbetween the keys and made them stick.

I have not noticed any squeeking of the buttons. I've had my 7290 for about a month now.

My 7750 creaks too.
That is a perfect word to describe it 'creak'. On mine, it occurs just prior to actually depressing the button fully. I can make it creak if I just lightly touch the key without pressing the button.
I also thought it needed breaking in - but it still does it after about 6 months.
