Have you taken a look at the FAQ listed at the top of most pages? That should be a great place to start learning about your new BlackBerry.

that is an older version of handheld software. Follow the instructions in the FAQ on how to download and install a newer version for your device. Probably 4.0 handheld software.

You won't get an icon when you plug it in, but you will get an icon for Blackberry Desktop Manager if it is running in the taskbar.

Hi
I downloaded the new version on to the desktop manager but i can't seem to tranfer it to the unit when loading the applications loader it goes through a sequence then comes up with no outlook or ms exchange folders appear to be configuired
select associated applications
i go into that configuration but nothing happens is this because i don't have a email account with my service provider t mobile
and how do i get the new version from the desktop to the blackberry

You have to use the application loader. In that FAQ, I wrote a fairly detailed article on how to load/reload/downgrade/upgrade your device. If you're still having trouble, try searching for and deleting vendor.xml then start up application loader with your device connected again.

Good luck!
