Arrow Blackberry 7230 pros and cons needed!! - 04-15-2007, 02:02 PM

Hi!
I am thinking about buying a blackberry 7230. I would like to know the pros and cons to having a blackberry 7230.
What is RIM?
Does the blackberry 7230 have Wi-FI?
What is the blackberry 7230's wireless modem?
Thank you!
Heavy

Welcome to the forums! The search button is your friend here as these have been asked and answered many times over...

-- RIM = Research In Motion
-- No wifi
-- There is no wireless modem

Again welcome and search for more detailed responses

The 7230 is an old BlackBerry. Only 16MB memory. GPRS speeds only. Not recommended as a "new" BlackBerry. It is several years old.

Nope.... As NJ stated, you might want to consider one of the newer BB devices

Internet is slow. Dial up speed. GPRS gives you 30-40kbps.

Phone is OK - not great.

The 7230 was a good e-mail device.

You may not be able to get any Internet with Pay as U go. Check with T-Mobile.

No BB functionality on ANY carrier with pay as you go. I would also recommend something newer, I have the 7250 which is newer I believe and sometimes I wish I had one of those new fangled bb's with the trackball.

The 7230's screen and backlight are really poor as well.

I'd recommend a 7290 at minimum and an 8700 or better if possible.

You can pick up an unlocked 7290 for about $99 on Tigerdirect.com

The backlight on the 7230 is a dim green glow. The backlight on the 7290 is more like what you'd see in a computer or laptop LCD screen.
