Default 7230 wont power up wife not happy - 08-24-2007, 11:27 PM

Just got (literally, today) a 7230 off ebay for my wife (shes not happy now please help). I know nothing about them but it wont power up. Auction said mint used condition the thing came in a brand new looking box with the clear palstic still on the lcd.

Anyway ive been charging it all day but no matter what it wont turn on. The only tiem it does anything is if i try to charge it thru the usb cable, the red light will come on for about 1-2 seconds then go off. Ive tried the reset button no luck there. Do they really require to be charged for 24 hours before turning them on? Any help?

Ok, this may sound like a lame question, but you do have the battery in it, right? I don't mean to sound rude, but one of the people I support had a similar issue....and he thought he could charge the device without the battery being IN the device.

Lol, no problem. Yes, I do have the battery in it. Like I said the only sign of life from it is the red light when I plug the usb cable into the pc. It stays on for maybe 1-2 seconds then it goes off. Wont turn on in the wall charger, pc cable, or unplugged. Battery in ;)

I need all the help i can get lol

Does it show anything else on the screen? Perhaps it doesn't have an operating system....?

Check the 'upgrade download' link in my signature to find the latest OS for that device. You'll also need to have Desktop Manager installed on your PC to install the BB OS.

I have an 8703e.

It won't power up my wife either.

Hopefully Verizon won't cripple that feature on the next generation.

No, the markings on the battery are not moisture indicators. Likely the the 7230 doesn't have a moisture indicator. If the battery is bad, you'll need to replace the battery. Not sure just how to know that though without having another battery to try. If the battery is good the only thing you can try is the following:

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

You'll need the OS for the 7230 installed on your PC along with Desktop Manager. You can get it from T-Mobile

If none of this works, I'd say time to get a newer device. The 7230 is a pretty old device anyway.
