I put 4 songs on my mini SD card under the Ringtone folder and they show up in my phone. I can play them when I click on them. The problem lies on when I set one as my ringtone, it won't work. I have tried assigning all four of them as my ringtone, but when I call the phone, it will vibrate once and won't play the song. Yes I do have it set on the loud profile and I have tried it on both vibe+tone mode as well as just tone mode. I guess I will go to an AT&T store, but I was hoping someone could help me here first. Thanks.
If you do a search and use..."mp3 as ringtones" or "ringtones" on this site, you'd be amazed how many times this question has been asked so I did it for you and hope this helps.
I believe it's a matter of converting your music from an mp3 into some other format that recognizes it as a ringtone or cuts it down? mp4? I am not sure but I know i've read it somewhere in a past thread.
I tried all the steps suggested, it still won't work. I assign a song as my ringtone, and nothing happens. When I scroll back thru all the ringtone available, and I highlight the song that I have selected, it won't play like all the others. It's quite frustrating.
Get them (I think I recall) under .5 mb, and try again. The ringtone doesn't need to be over 30 seconds, as no ring to your BB will last longer than that anyway.

That did it. They had to be smaller than 500kb to work from the media card. I reduced them down to 300kb and they still sound clear.
