Question for the Pearl owners out there...

I have been using a replacement 8100 for the past month or so (1st one got wet, something to do with beer and a lake..). Anyway, one annoying thing I can't figure out how to fix is, if I have a new email in one or both of my two accounts, I get the red asterik on that message box, and the main "messages" icon. Now, say that I also get a text message, before I check any of the messages. If I first check my email, the red asterik goes off for both the email and messages icon, and therefore, I don't know that I received a text message (assuming I don't hear the notification). My old phone would leave the asterik on the messages icon, even if I checked my email. Any way to fix this?

sounds to me like you are checking the my messages area instead of each individual inbox with out the message box being separate from text messages setting checked...

then again that is just what it sounds to me...i really have no clue...maybe a shot in the dark?

No, I am checking the individual inboxes themselves before checking the messages inbox, but thanks.

Here are the things I would try in that situation:

* Battery Pull (The "Chicken Soup" of BlackBerry remedies )
* Go into each account, mark an item as unread, then escape to the home screen, then go back in and mark the item as read.
* Remove account from BIS, re-add.

See if any of those work.
