Default How to install programs

Please Login to Remove!

I am new to a Blackberry (company not personal) and my company say not to install the BB software on my Laptop, I guess they don't want me to mess up the Email and Outlook connection that they have already set up.

So if I can't install the software is there a way to load music or programs on my BB. I have a 2GB micro card on the way. Any help would be appreciated.

Most BB applications will allow an Over The Air installation (OTA). Look for files to download from your browser on your BB that say OTA or end in *.jad or *.jar files.

You can move music to the SD card via USB from your computer.

If I installed my software, but didn't set up email, on my home computer and only used it to download programs, etc. could I mess up anything on my company Blackberry? Being a new user, it would be much easier to use the software but I don't want to foul things up.

There is a reason your company doesn't want you doing this, I would not recommend doing it.

Not sure why they wouldn't want you to have it, but each company has their reasons (have you asked why they don't want you to install it??).

We install it for people who ask for it, but I tell them that they do NOT need to sync their device using the program - that it just contains the drivers necessary to charge their BB via their PC's USB port.

It's also nice to have if, for some oddball reason, the user needs to do a backup of their device.

I understand that they don't want us to install it so we won't mess up the Email.

I assume that I can add music and ringtones to my SD card before I install it in my phone. But if I don't have the software on a computer, how would I install a 3rd party program.

to add music to our SD card you don't need any software or 3rd party application, just enable Mass Storage on the media card, and then your SD card (when plugged up via USB to the PC) will be visible as extra drive on your PC.
