Default blue screen of death - windows vista

Please Login to Remove!

I keep getting the awful blue screen after installing desktop software downloaded from RIM on a new vista laptop. I couldn't get the download from t-mobile to execute.

Additionally, vista keeps trying to install 'a bluetooth device driver for your new bluetooth device' (can't get it to stop attempting to install the driver)

Finally, I had to delete the hardware from window's device manager; it took 5 minutes for vista to remove the blackberry desktop software (just hung for 5 minutes and finally came up with an uninstall window)

now, am back to square 1, no compatible software on my laptop -- would really like to use the pearl as a backup modem for occasions that I don't have wifi access. (which was easy on my windows xp tablet pc)

any ideas?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

For Desktop Manager, be certain you are downloading and installing version 4.2, Service Pack 2.
Good luck.

I had trouble installing it on Vista too. It runs extremely slowly for some reason. I eventually figured out that if I just waited it out it would eventually complete. It took very nearly an hour to install the whole package including Roxio.

(warning: sarcastic)

Vista, the compatibility to other programs and hardware is still impressing.

Good luck.
thanks -- I did install version 4.2 svc pk 2, and it worked for an entire day. then I tried to use bluetooth and windows kept trying to find bluetooth drivers -- wouldn't let me disable its attempts to install drivers. then it started crashing. very frustrating :( haven't had any crashes since I uninstalled the blackberry software.

and, unfortunately, where/when I purchased my new laptop, vista was the only option.
