Default desktop manager and 2 computers

Please Login to Remove!

I have my 8100 connected to a BES server through work and the desktop manager loaded on my work computer. We have an IT policy that doesn't let me install anything, so I can't upgrade desktop manager or load a new OS on my 8100 because of the protection.

Can I install desktop manager on my home computer and upgrade from there yet still keep all of my info on the phone? Can anyone explain if this is possible?

I have the ability to add/remove programs on my device so there shouldn't be problems there.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

When you say you have a policy that doesn't allow you to install anything, are you reffering to programs on the computer only?

i have IT policies on my BB but they are rather flexible actually. a password is required but that it about it.

I am unable to install anything on my laptop, though.
