I've got a Pearl with the new TMO 107 OS and use Cingular/AT&T. Every once in a while I was lose my data connection. I can make calls and use MediaNet, but using the BB Browser, Opera Mini, Google Maps, etc will not work and not even attempt to make a connection (no blue arrows). Also no emails. I have 5 full bars and EDGE on the whole time. I've tried Registering through the Host Routing Tables, turning on and off, turning the wireless off and on, battery pull and it still doesn't work. It comes and goes at times but I'm currently on a "goes" spot and it's been a good hour or two.

Not sure if this is a Pearl issue or AT&T/Cingular issue but I wanted to check if anyone else has this problem.

Edit: Also, under Settings>Advanced>MDS Activation it says "Not Activated" but there's no option for me to activate, just to go back to the menu.

Ok I pulled the battery again and now it's working. Got a flood of emails and BB Messages. Any idea why this happens though?

FYI, the MDS Activation screen has nothing to do with MDS browsing. It is actually for MDSS application servers (an option in BES 4.1 and up).

As for why it happened ... If you had upper case EDGE all the time it should not have happened. Does it happen often?

Does MediaNet use data? Is it set to the MDS/BlackBerry Browser or BIS or WAP browsers?

Hmm I tought it was just me it happens to me 2 or 3 times a day and everytime I have to take the battery out idk why it disconnects eventho I have upper case edge someone told me that tmobile migt be updating its towers here in vegas but now seems weird when you are using att and were both having the same problem I'm thinking it might be a problem with the os

Good to know about the MDS Activation thing. Even after I pulled the battery and it started working it still said Not Activated so I was starting to figure that had nothing to do with it. Just seems to happen every couple of days and it's been the same over the last 4 or 5 OS's I've upgraded to.

So, does MediaNet use data?
Is it set to use BES or BIS browser?

The guy on Tech Support told me that if this happens, I should hit "Turn Wireless Off" on my phone, wait 30 secs, and turn it back on. This'll reset me on their network and fix things. It's happened, I've done it, and its worked for me.

Did they say that there was some reason fo this? Seems like a bad workaround.
