Unhappy Pearl Screen Problem?

Please Login to Remove!

Ok guys/gals my wife's 8100 is having serious problems with the screen. I can't take it back to Tmobile for warranty as I bought it off ebay still new in box. The phone has worked fine for the past 3 months and then all of a sudden the screen starts going white and nothing shows up. Tried hard reset with battery and sometimes it comes up and sometimes it doesn't. I have tried wiping the phone several times with Jl_Cmdr and it wipes fine and reinstalls ok and then starts acting up again. I think it might be a screen issue as sometimes the screen with get a pink hue to it before it turns white and also sometimes I get weird characters or multiple lines on the screen. Anyone have any suggestions as I am thinking of buying an LCD on ebay and replacing the LCD to see if it solves the issue, but I don't wanna spend the money if the phone is just hosed and it would be best to just bite the bullett and purchase a new warrantied phone from Tmobile? Any advise is much appreciated?

PS:
The phone will still call out and receive calls with the screen in white, just can't see anything.

the first thing i would try is make sure that the lcd connection to the motherboard is good. it can pop open by dropping it, thats why they started putting a piece of tape over the latch..

ps. be really careful with the connector door, use tweezers or something to open it gently.

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I607/I607FG1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; Smartphone; 320x240) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

odds are either a bad LCD or a loose connection to the lcd or pcb

I had that exact problem when I got my Pearl....happened 2 weeks into owning it. It would happen once in a while and progressively got worse. Sounds very much like a bad LCD.

FWIW...I called AT&T and they sent me a replacement. Very frustrating though. Hope you can get it fixed easily.

Thanks for all your help and input guys. I took it apart and nothing looks wrong, and the ribbon cable from the screen is firmly seated on the board. I decided to just bite the bullett and buy a new phone. I called Tmobile and they were very understanding and nice, and gave me a new one for $99 even though I didn't buy this one from them originally. I went with the Sunset Red color as I now have a full warranty and also spare parts for my wife's phone. Thanks again.
