Default Batch Video Conversion App

Please Login to Remove!

I was reading through the video conversion thread and figured I would share something I have been using. I created a small utility in C# that creates a batch file to do encoding for all supported media files in a given directory. There are two parts: 1) the C# utility that creates the batch file, and 2) a reg setting that adds a command to the context menu when you right click a directory.

Here is a how it works...

Say you have a directory that contains movie files you downloaded. Simply right-click the directory and you will see an option that says "RIM Video Assembler - 81xx". Select it and it will scan the directory looking for supported media files and create a .bat file to convert all the movies found. Go into the directory and run the .bat file and it will begin converting all the movies found. The utility uses mencoder as the back-end so you will need to download it.

There is also a .config file where you can tweak the mencoder settings and add or remove supported media file types. Based on your settings, it will ignore all other file extensions except the ones you designate as supported.

Is this something that would interest anyone?
