Red face In middle of upgrade, is this normal? Got 507 error, then a few computers, then...

Hi, there. I've read the original thread for the most recent OS available right now, and it says:

If the hourglass has been spinning for more than 30 minutes continuously you will need to wipe the device with JL_Cmder (close out of Desktop Manager during this process.) You will then end up with a white screen with small icons and an error code number like 507 or 543.

If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507/543 (which happens occasionally during an upgrade process,) simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

OK, so all was going well, then at 7 PM, when i was at the first Wait for Device initialization sequence, I looked over at the Pearl, and saw the 507 error flash for a few seconds, then it switched over to what looked like 2 computers connected to each other. It sat there for about 5 mins on those two icons, then switched over to the hourglass, and it's been running since with the hourglass on it (it's only been 10 mins), so it's not stuck on the 507 at least.

Is that normal, or do I have the problem that's described above and need to go thru the procedure explained? ANXIETY.... wasn't sure if it's OK to see the 507 and those computer icons briefly as long as it eventually switches to hourglass, or if the problem is only if you get permanently stuck on one of those two icons that you need to do the above procedures.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

The complete OS upgrade and initialization can take a bit as long as 30 minutes

Default Update

Phew! Big one... looks like i guess it's normal to temporarily see the 507 error and the two computer icons, as long as it then turns to the hourglass and eventually it finishes within half an hour.

Timeline for me is as follows:

6:45 PM - start
7 PM - hourglass came on, first Wait for Device initialization sequence
Immediately thereafter, 507 error appears briefly and then the two computer icons. This lasts about 5 mins.
7:05 PM - switches back to hourglass
7:30 PM - hourglass finishes, the app loader has moved thru the rest of the steps, and all seems to be ok, and BB booted up fine.

Not as fast as before though strangely... i was on 4.2.1.94. Will do a battery pull to see if that helps.

PS I did not need to replace the LBS.alx file to see BB Maps on my device.

Thx, I know that, but I wanted to know whether it was ok to temporarily see this famous 507 error and the computer icons during the install, or if it was only if after you were stuck on the hourglass for 30 mins or more/stuck on the error messages for a long time that you had a problem.
