I installed new Yahoo Messenger after using the old version for the last couple of months fine.

Now I get a java error whenever I boot and my Yahoo Messenger icon is not there anymore.

Anyone having this problem? and know the solution?

Wirelessly posted (AT&T (Cingular) 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Delete the old module.

Options> Advanced Options> Applications> (menu) Modules...

delete Net_rim_yahoomessenger or something (v. 1.*.*)

Reboot

If it doesn't come up, re-download/install.

I noticed that the Yahoo Messenger icon first appeared when I was roaming. There is no entry in Options | Advanced Options | Applications, nor is there a module present.

How do I remove (not just hide) the icon?

TIA.

Unless someone else can confirm otherwise, that might be an install link icon pushed to the devise by your provider. Hide it or use it to install (if that's the case) then, uninstall it completely.

I have a Telenav install icon that I just hide.

Yahoo! Front Page is the java/internet version, I found it on the Yahoo Messenger site Blogs (search on Blackberry). I have to use it as there is a problem with the latest version of Blackberry OS (4.2. something) and latest Yahoo Messenger 2.0.33 (1.095 works on 4.2.something but not latest version).

It is pretty disappointing that a download from Blackberry itself does not work on its latest OS. The application installs but the icon does not appear on the application list. Blackberry really sucks I have to say.

I noticed this site translates the above address into a link, the site address for your Blackberry is m.yahoo.com (add the http:// before and / after yourself).

I answered my own question by deleting the YM entry in the service book.
