Unhappy yahoo not working.. blackberry messenger stopped working.. - 10-28-2007, 05:38 PM

to start if off, i've had the same yahoo account for many years. i know my screen name and i know my password..

on email setup when i send my account info i get "an error occurred during email account validation. please check your information and try again. if the error persists please contact your email account provider. please try again"

so i downloaded yahoo GO. "log in failed"

downloaded yahoo messenger v 2.0 " service not enabled for this handheld"

what the hell is going on ?

and last night my blackberry messenger stopped working?

any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

So, you have no problem logging off and logging back on from computer? Problem is only accessing yahoo services from blackberry?..... Have you tried hard reset?

But you still have BIS (I'm assuming BIS) services, otherwise, BoostedSupra? The blackberry browser works?

Carrier issue?..... Can you log in to BIS on carriers website and edit yahoo email settings, save, and get confirmation? Then resend service books?

Not sure what troubleshooting to try with yahoo messenger and Yahoo! Go

You are talking abiut blackberry browser here, though, right?

Can you set up or edit yahoo email in BIS on carrier's website using computer, and get a confirmation?

Honestly, I'd deletw the pending contact. Try a PIN message to the other BlackBerry. And another battery pull reboot. Leave the BlackBerry powered on and pull the battery.

BoostedSupra, checking my assumptions: you are not on BES, right? You have BIS, correct?

FWIW, sometimes in the past I had trouble logging into yahoo mobile site. Same thing; would not accept my username and password. My workaround was to log in to yahoo using the regular web site, then go back to the mobile site and refresh the page. As far as yahoo mail from the blackberry browser, you could try that.

If you are on BIS, it is much better to set up to have yahoo email pushed to the blackberry. See BIS section at blackberryfaq.com to get you started (if you are on BIS).

I'm curious... Were you able to send a straight PIN message as JS suggested trying?

AT&T doesn't support Yahoo Messenger.

You'll probably have to do some sort of service book hack. There have been some threads on sharing service books from other users from supported carriers.

Lame, but there is a workaround, there were instructions posted last night in a thread here. I'll look, you can too.

Talking Information - 04-29-2008, 02:59 PM

Hey all,
I had this same issue and found this thread through a Google Search. The thread never really had a resolution so I wanted to add my two cents. To make my blackberry work again, I ended up changing my password in Yahoo. Then I went over and changed the corresponding password on the blackberry setup site, then went back to Yahoo and changed my password back to the original, and went back to Blackberry and changed it back. I know this is convoluted and may be unnecessary, but it did save me a trip/call for help.
