Default Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]

Please Login to Remove!

BB Pearl 8100 T-mobile
Desktop Manager V 4.2.2.14
Handheld Software V 4.2.1.107 T-mobile

After trying to upgrade to Handheld Software V 4.2.1.107 T-mobile, I got an error message: "Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]" at the first step of the update: "Connecting to boot ROM..." after the several automatic resets of the device.
I tried to change the Handheld Software version with anything available on the net, but it didn't work. Some suggested trying without the battery or changing the USB ports; well, still the same - it didn't work. Wiping the device didn't work either; already tried. I suggest: Do not wipe off the OS since the restore/update goes thru the same step of "Connecting to boot ROM..." and you will just get the Error 507 message.

T-mobile would replace my device, since it is under warranty and it is their website software.

However, does anybody know what could be the problem?

I couldn't find anything on the Blackberry website.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I couldn't solve the problem. T-mobile sent me a replacement, since my device was still under warranty. I managed to update the new device software without any hassle. I could only guess that the device had a fault and perhaps BB might be able to fix it.

Default Update to Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001]

Just wanted to let everyone know the Unspecified error encountered [A:0x00000001] can be caused by a "bug" with your current installation of the Windows and the Blackberry Desktop Manager.

I have reinstalled the relevant Blackberry Desktop Manager (Granted I used BDM 4.6.1 which I managed to download from -w w w.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/blackberry/112014.h t m l-) and ROM Image onto a new install of XP. Presto the Pearl/s (UK Vodafone) 8100 which I have been previously trying to update with another PC with BDM versions 4.3 and 4.5 now donít give any error while updating.

I suspect this issue could also relate to other users having issues with the update/reinstall of units with the 507 error screen.

Hope this helps someone
