Exclamation Phone Crashed...NEED HELP!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey everybody,

I have the pearl 8100 through T-mobile's service and tonight the phone completly crashed! I haven't recently installed anything new and haven't dropped it, the phone is only about 3 months old and haven't really had any issues with it until now.

Problem: The phone turns off, then turns on with a white screen and shows the hour glass (as if its processing) and then repeats this every couple minutes. It will not respond to any command that I try and only taking out the battery will do anything at all! I tried Tmobile cust service and they had no idea and are sending me a new phone.

The problem with that is...I have a lot of important information and numbers that were stored to the phone and not the sim card! I REALLY need to retrieve that stuff off of it! PLEASE HELP!

Any ideas or contact numbers are helpfull or anyone that has ran into this same problem? I'm sure one of you has some idea of what to do!?

Thanks!

The good news is your phone is fixable.

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

The bad news is your data is gone if you didn't have a backup (unless you are on a BES.)

Would I lie?

I'm sorry, there is no way to get the data off of it. You HAVE to make backups if it's that important.

Thumbs down

Damn! I was hoping there was some secret trick or way of resetting the phone to get it back to a functonable state? ...kinda like DOS for computers or something?

Anybody have any other options? What about bb support?

...I almost forgot, at one point when I turned my phone back on the screen showed "error 535" and "reset" does this mean anything to you guys???

As I stated in my first post to you, your device can be fixed but your data is gone. Here it is straight from RIM since you don't seem to believe me (I simply entered "error 535" in the search bar at blackberry.com):

Problem
Error 535 appears on the BlackBerry device. The BlackBerry device stops responding.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cause
Error 535 means the BlackBerry device is out of memory. The error might appear because the virtual memory thread scheduler ceased when a thread ran out of memory. This error is known to occur during a start-up sequence or if the main event thread ceases.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Resolution
First, hard reset the BlackBerry device. See KB-02141 for instructions. If this does not resolve the issue, obtain the latest version of the BlackBerry Device Software through your service provider. Then, run Application Loader in BlackBerry Desktop Manager to update the BlackBerry device.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KB-02141:

Procedure
To perform a hard reset on a Research In Motion® (RIM®) 850 device, RIM 857 device, RIM 950 device, or RIM 957 device, insert the end of a paperclip inside the small hole on the back of the handheld.

To perform a hard reset on all other BlackBerry devices

Remove the battery cover.
Remove and reinsert the battery to reset the BlackBerry device.
Replace the battery cover.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional Info
See KB02794 for reasons to perform a hard reset.

Default Does this work on the Curve 8310 (AT&T)?

I've used the search function and can't find this topic relating to the Curve 8310 from AT&T. I've downloaded the JL Commander program but haven'tr tried it yet since I couldn't find that it was compatible with this model.

I just got this phone last night and it was working great this morning. Then it locked up and has the JVM Error 535.

I assume that I can use the JL commander program > Wipe feature to reinstall the OS, but I want to make sure before I try.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Do just as has been posted in this thread and you will be fine.

Good luck.
