Hello everybody,

I'm pretty new to the forums, so sorry if this question is common. I'm having an issue with my blackberry: every so often (I'd say about once a day) it seems like caps lock is turned on. On the top right of my screen there's an arrow pointing up. Consequently I cannot use the dial pad or utilize the messaging programs effectively. It seems the only way I can cure this (and it only cures it for a short period of time) is to turn the device off, remove the battery and reboot. This is a hassle so if there's any way I can avoid this please let me know!

Have you tried pressing the ALT key? That should toggle it on and off. By the way the arrow signifies the alternate keys. i.e. the symbol above the letter. There is no Caps lock on the Pearl.

I've tried that though. I understand what you're saying but it's a different type of arrow. If you press alt there's an arrow going up and down. This one is a fat arrow going up only. If I try to message all of my letters are capitalized, if I hit alt it changes between 123 and ABC or something along those lines. Also when attempting to select messages, I cannot get it to stop highlighting things.

I'll try to take a picture of it next time it happens if I am home.

A fat arrow up should occur when the shift key is pressed.
A skinny up /down arrow should be displayed when the alt key is pressed.
a small box with 123 in the upper right means that num lock is on.
a small box with ABC in the upper right means that Multitap is enabled.

To turn on/off num lock, press (and hold) shift then press Alt.
To turn on/off Multitap menu click and select enable Multitap or Suretype
