Default Help with 3rd party apps

Please Login to Remove!

Hi. So i'm new to the whole blackberry thing. Just bought the 8130 and was trying to load Tarascon pharmacopeia and the Sanford Guide for Antibiotics and they won't load. I keep getting the message that there are no programs for the 8130. Do any of you know what I'm doing wrong? I'd appreciate any help there is out there.

Default 3rd party apps

Those programs are made for the Blackberry Pearl.. or at least they said they were. Do you think it's not compatible with the 8130 specifically?

And.. why does the application load say that it doesn't have a device operator for my blackberry? Do i have to download it to my computer? I was told by the verizon people that it's only saying that because it doesn't recognize those 3rd party apps as being compatible. Is that true?

Most BlackBerry applications will work on all models. At least, that is my experience. I have used some of the same apps (same versions) on a 7100, 8100, 8700 and 8800.

It is likely they will work on the 8130 as well.

Have you performed the functions which were advised in the earlier links?

I'm at work in the hospital right now so i can't right now but I'll try. So the device manager isn't the same as the desktop manager and I have to download the appropriate device manager (v4.3.0.60) to my computer in order for it to work properly?

No, you should download and install the proper DESKTOP MANAGER for it work properly.
Version 4.2, Service Pack 2. With or without the Roxio Media Manager, either will do. The version with Roxio is large.

I believe 4.2 SP2 includes Roxio...if you want to skip it try 4.2 SP1.

The 8130 Pearl has a new version of the BB OS and there have been a fair number of reports of problems w/existing BB apps that run on previous models w/the 4.2.x version of the OS.

You can download 4.2 SP2 with or without Roxio, no reason to go back to SP1.
Also 4.3 is available for download.

I don't have the knowledge these guys have, but it sounds to me like you might need an ebook reader. I use Mobipocket, www.Mobipocket.com for my ebooks. It's a free download. I use it on my 8130 and have plenty of books on here.

It seems 4.3 is giving the error but not 4.2.

If you look under Help-->About Backberry Desktop Manager --> TAB--> Device Software

you will see the pearl doesnt show up in 4.3, Verizon claimed they are waiting on RIM to release the "Device Software" or a patch or something, RIM wanted to charge me $49.95 to tell me the same thing. This is the info I recieved after 72minutes on the phone this morning with Verizon/RIM.....

Hey guys! I'm new here. I have the same problem. I followed what you guys said about downloading 4.2 SP2 and that gave me the same error message. So I checked the version numbers and the DM software and the device OS don't match. So now I can't even do anything in terms of installing themes and 3rd party programs. I checked Verizon's website and it has the same version of the DM as the one that came with our CD-rom. What do you think?

Default Having same issue with Verizon 8130 pearl 2

I just got my new pearl (coming from the 8830).

I went to handango and purchased three new apps that said they'd work on my new phone.

I moved these files into a folder on my pc. Then i launched the black berry desktop software, then launched the application loader. At that point it prompts me to "Add", I click "Add", browse to the file and click open. I then recieve the following error:
No additional applications designed for your device were found.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

Craig

I am having the same problem.

I have v4.3 on both. I'm disappointed that I can't get my blackjax fix...

same problem with me...I have verizon 8130. I can only install 3rd party software thru OTA. I can't install 3rd party software with my BB desktop manager. I am getting same error with you guys. Is there any fix on these? I should have latest version of BB desktop manager coz I have new 8130 from verizon and it comes with the CD when I bought it from the dealer. How are we gonna fix this?
