I know some will ask why I'm trying to do this, but that aside -- does anyone know why I am unable to pair my new BB Pearl to my iPAQ?

I was expecting the BT phone modem to work like my old Motorola phone (it was stolen) so that I create a connection on the iPAQ to the phone and then generate a call to the Internet when I'm on the road.

What happens know, the pairing gets part-way complete. The devices know about each other, but the service discovery from the iPAQ (Windows Mobile 5) keeps saying:

"The requested service is not running on the device. Please make sure the service is enabled on the device or select another one to continue."

A quick look at the BT options on the BB says the services are
-headset
-handsfree
-desktop connectivity
-wireless bypass, and
-dial-up networking

So I'm thinking it should be forwarding the correct information -- that is unless BB and MS have that much of a squabble going that they have placed competing codes to thwart the other.

I'm having the same issue...

exacty the same problem I'm having with my BB8100 (latest 02-UK firmware) and my Ipaq4150 (latest ROM)


I can pair the devices and transfer files between them without any problems but thats as far as it goes
