Default BB Weather install; Where is TCP settings in 4.3? - 11-16-2007, 02:15 PM

I'm trying to get BBWeather to work. I'm using the following directions:

Installing BBWeather on the Pearl | Slight Right

I get stock here:
Now on your Pearl go to Options, Advanced Options, TCP

Where is TCP setting ? I go to Advanced Options and there is no TCP. Am I blind ?

Options from the mainscreen of the BB. THEN Advanced, then TCP.

JS,

This can't be that hard. I'm selecting OPTIONS icon from the mainscreen, then Advanced Options then I see the following on the screen:
  • Applications
  • Browser
  • Broswer Push
  • Default Services
  • GPS
  • Host Routing Table
  • Maps
  • Service Book

There is no TCP.

Media Card is there, right under OPTIONS, not under ADVANCED.

Somethings got rearranged on OS 4.3. I don't have it on a unit.

Do you see anything with "APN". Maybe under Mobile Connections, or Network?

I spoke with a user with 4.3 on a different device and they said TCP is under Options > Advanced on their unit.

I couldn't find it on my 8130 but I didn't need it. App works fine. On a side note though, I tried adding my zip code and it would not take it no matter how many times I hit OK. i had to use the weather code and it worked like a charm.

Use this link. type in the name of the city you want, NOT THE ZIP CODE, and it will give you the Location ID code. If you type in the zip code it will give you the zip code back as the location ID and this will not work.

ASP.NET Resources - Determine location ID for the weather server control

I updated Location ID via the following link: ASP.NET Resources - Determine location ID for the weather server control

I get ERROR: BAD DNS ADDRESS with Disable MDS Proxy checked
I get ERROR: INVALID URL PARAMETER with Disable MDS Proxy unchecked

To be honest, BBWeather is an old app. It hasn't been updated in several years. I've concluded (and this is open to argument, of course) that BBWeather has been one of the memory leak culprits. When I uninstalled it from my Pearl I quit having problems with memory (deleting emails, and call logs.) It's one of my favorite apps but I haven't even installed it on my Curve. Hopefully, one of these days, someone will take it on as a project for updating. The code is open source, so any programmer could rewrite/update it.

With that said, I'm not a Verizon user so I'm not sure how to set this up on the 8130. If I remember right these apps have worked "out of the box" on Verizon.
