Default 8100 without the blackberry service Yahoo messenger problem

Please Login to Remove!

Is it possible to use Yahoo/Gtalk on 8100 without the blackberry service, but with GPRS. The browser works and I am able to surf.

I understand Yahoo/Gtalk applications are written by RIM so maybe it's not possible. But Beejive/Gmail app doesn't work either. Can't they use the gprs connection?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer guys.

I do have an unlimited data pack, but not the blackberry service. I can surf, use the messenger through the browser. But I can not use other applications that require data like Gmail app. for checking email or Beejive.

I can understand Yahoo Messenger for blackberry might not work as it's written by RIM and could have put certain restrictions. But what about other applications like Opera mini (it can not detect a connection); why arent they working. All they need is a data pack just like the browser.

Any suggestions? Do I have to change the settings somewhere? I tried looking could not find anything.

I really wish carriers would quit confusing customers with these other data packages meant for phones like Razr or something. A Blackberry should be limited to Blackberry data (and voice) plans.
